Home Burnt CD’s, DVD’s

In house burnt optical media like DVDs have a retained life, they are NOT for ever. They have a stored life of typically 7-8 years. They will ultimately go blank. Make a scheduled routine every 5 years to copy the media to a new disk remembering to date the disk to keep those precious memories available and not lost. Remember too, that USB drives can also fail and regularly do. So make several different types of backups of your precious information and photos.

Microsoft Windows 10 has been a stable

platform for some time now.

Windows 10 is the best of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 combined. The familiar START button of Windows 7 is technically back with some other features included. The little extra to pay for a touch screen notebook will make a big positive difference to your experience with Windows 10 Dual screen monitors improve productivity significantly.

Solid state hard drives and m.2 SSD are very fast compared to SATA drives. There capacity is increasing and at the same time there cost is dropping. Where possible we select these drives for our systems and upgrades.
